The main cause of thinning of teeth is from acid erosion. Sources of acid erosion include acidic beverages such as sports drinks, orange juice and soft drinks (even the diet variety which contains phosphoric acid), and gastric acid.
This can make the teeth sensitive to hot and cold food and beverages and look unsightly.
The management includes limiting the frequency of the intake of the acidic beverage and a drink of water to flush the mouth afterwards. The teeth can be restored either with composite resin or porcelain.
